Octoparse AI currently runs on local PCs. However, if you’re looking to run your automation workflows on a different machine—be it another computer in your network or a cloud server—the Octoparse AI Bot makes it possible.

Instead of relying solely on your main device to execute flows, you can install the Bot on a separate machine and offload the execution there. This setup is ideal if you want to scale up your automation, free up local resources, or simply centralize execution on a server that’s always online.

Note: The Bot feature is only available for users on the Starter Plan or above. If you're currently on the Free Plan, please upgrade or apply for a free trial to enable this functionality.

Before You Begin: Set Up the Main Client

The Octoparse AI Bot works in tandem with the main client, which is the desktop application used to build, manage, and dispatch automation workflows. You'll need to install the main client on your local machine before setting up the Bot on other devices.

If you haven’t installed or set up the main client yet, follow the guides below to get started:

Once the main client is ready, you can proceed to deploy Bots on other machines.

What Devices Can Run the Bot?

You can install the Octoparse AI Bot on any Windows-based device, including:

  • A second PC or laptop with Internet access

  • A Windows cloud server with Remote Desktop access (e.g., AWS EC2, Azure VM, or Google Cloud Compute)

If you choose to use a cloud server, make sure it meets the following requirements:

  • It must run a supported version of Windows (e.g., Windows Server 2016 or above)

  • Remote Desktop Protocol (RDP) access should be enabled

  • You must have administrator permissions on the server to install software and manage the Bot

Please note: We don’t provide guidance on how to create, configure, or secure your cloud server. If you're not familiar with setting up cloud infrastructure, we recommend consulting your cloud provider's documentation (such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud) for instructions on creating and managing a Windows virtual machine.

Installing the Bot

Once your device or server is ready, setting up the Bot is quick and easy.

When the download completes, run the installer and follow the on-screen steps to finish the installation.

After installation, launch the Bot and log in with your Octoparse AI account.

As soon as you're logged in, the Bot will automatically appears in My Bots section in your main Octoparse AI client, where you can monitor and manage it. There’s no need for manual pairing—the system handles it for you as long as both the Bot and the main client are connected to the internet and logged into the same account.

Managing Bots from the Main Client

With the Bot now online, you can control it directly from the Octoparse AI main client. To run an app using the Bot, simply locate the app in your workflow list, click the More button, and select Run on Bot. Choose the desired Bot from the list, and the execution will begin on that machine.

From the main client, you can keep an eye on what each Bot is doing. You’ll be able to check whether a Bot is busy or idle, and troubleshoot if something seems off—all from the same interface.

Interacting with the Bot

If you're on the Bot machine itself—whether it’s a local computer or a cloud server—you can also interact directly with the Bot terminal. This comes in handy when you want to check on a task more closely or need to interrupt it.

For example, you can view the current task progress in Bot executer‘s Logs section. If a flow isn’t behaving as expected, you can pause or stop it directly within the Bot interface. This lets you examine logs, investigate issues, or restart execution without going back to the main client. The Pause and Stop buttons are always accessible, giving you real-time control.

Installing the Octoparse AI Bot on another device or cloud server gives you the flexibility to run automations wherever it makes the most sense for your workflow. Whether you’re scaling across multiple machines, leveraging the cloud for always-on availability, or simply keeping your local device free, the Bot offers a seamless way to expand your automation power.

If you need help along the way—whether during installation or while managing your Bots—our support team is always here to assist.
